Hi all,

Tanigawa's "Lightning Speed Endgame Technique" (Kousoku no Shubanjutsu")
was published by the Shogi Renmei in December 1988 is still considered
to be one of the best books on shogi ever written. Providing rare
insights into the thought processes of top professionals in the endgame,
it is a must-read for every shogi player who wants to take his or her
game to a level higher than 3-dan amateur. Taking examples from his own
games, the young Meijin Tanigawa explains his way of thinking and
techniques for converting a good or winning position into a victory.

Richard Sams, a professional translator of Japanese and shogi
enthusiast, has taken up the huge task of translating this classic book
into English and publishing those translations on my web pages. The
first three chapters have now been translated into English and are
available here:

http://www.fu.is.saga-u.ac.jp/~grimberg/SHOGI/TANIGAWABOOK/tanigawabookmain.html

Richard hopes to translate one or two chapters every month and of course
we will announce the additions here on shogi-l.

Enjoy!

Reijer

Dear Reijer and Richard,

Thank you very much for your effort and excellent work !!
We are happy to see more Japanese Shogi books/information are translated
and available on the web for the international shogi fans.

ISC (International Shogi Club) are also working similar projects but
there are limitations concerning our work lord then more activities in
this area are highly welcomed.

We do wish your success on your project and if there is anything we can
support, please do not hesitate to contact with us.

Sincerely,

Yoshi Niwata (Leader of ISC)
